Subsequent to public outcry on viral videos where controversial musician, Naira Marley was seen alighting from a private jet, then later featured in a stage concert at Jabi Lake mall, in Abuja. Nigerians on various social media platforms have queried the importance and essence of the concert amidst the Coronavirus restriction and social distance.
Aviation Minister Sen. Hadi Sirika reacts and express their disappointment during the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 daily briefing in Abuja on Monday saying,
“Naira Marley did not apply for a flight to Abuja, Executive Jet Services applied for permit to convey a Honourable Justice to Abuja and back to Lagos on official assignment.
“The Approval was given because the work of the Honourable Justice was considered as essential duty.”
Unfortunately, Executive Jet Services turned around and used the approval to convey Naira Marley and his crew to Abuja for a concert where he performed at Jabi lake amidst the Covid-19 restriction on events and social distance gathering.
The Federal Government is hereby set to fine the operators of the jet services while it announced that it will suspend their operations indefinitely and prosecute the operators for breach of trust.
The pilot of the aircraft will also be sanctioned for presenting a wrong flight manifest.
According to a twitter handle by Minister for Aviation Sen. Hadi Sirika @hadisirika reacts to debunk the trending allegation on why the aviation ministry approve the flight that conveyed the musician Naira Marley alongside his crew.
“We approved a flight indeed, but not for any musician. Approved flight was to convey a Justice on official assignment, but ExecuJet illegally used it to convey musician to Abuja for concert. We have suspended ExecuJet’s operations INDEFINITELY, will also be FINED.”
