The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps TRACE has apprehended 30 almajiris conveyed in a truck meant for goods only.
Recall that states government had ordered the inter-state travel restrictions and lockdown policy to avoid the widespread of #Covid-19 in the country,
The Operatives of TRACE, on Monday 11th May, 2020, intercepted an IVECO truck loaded with 30 Hausa youth, known as Almajeri.
The truck with Reg. No. Kano XG172 KNG covered with tarpaulin, designed to convey goods only, was intercepted at the Joju area of Sango in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.
The contents of what the truck was conveying was unveiled when operatives of Trace forced the truck driver to park and untie the tarpaulin cover.
It was discovered that, 30 Hausa youths popularly referred to as ‘Almajeri’ were packed together with peppers, tomatoes etc to the brim of the truck.
The operatives of TRACE, escorted the fully loaded apprehended truck with the 30 Almajiris back to the Toll-gate border exit between Lagos and Ogun, while they were also denied entry into Ogun State.
The TRACE Area Commander 4, Ajibade Adekunle who confirmed the reports, he noted that, “the truck was turned back and led to toll gate from where they said they came in from.”
