The Chairman National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Lagos State Council, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya aka Mc- Oluomo has warned travelers to ensure that they board vehicles at motor parks across the state.
“I advised those that would be traveling for Eld -el -Kabir celebration with their loved ones to any part of the country to board vehicles at designated motor parks in the State, he said in his Barka De Sallah message said,
“On behalf of my humble self and executives felicitate with Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eld-el-Kabir celebration, the call become imperative in the overall interest of passengers not to fall the victims of unscrupulous elements and criminals who may to take advantage of the period to wreak havoc on innocent people.
“Our drivers are well trained and familiar with the terrain of highways, comply with drivers’ directive on COVID-19, make use of facemask, our drivers will not allow passengers boarding vehicles without facemask and other World Health Organization protocols.
“We have provided hand washing basin, soap and sanitizers in our parks in compliance with government guidelines.
“Our task force would be on hand to monitor the activities of motor parks in ensuring total compliance with 60 per cent passengers in our buses”.
“Am using this medium to warned drivers against drinking alcoholic while driving and overloading during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
“Drivers should not take intoxicating substances that could lead to accident and unnecessary loss of lives”
While wishing commercial drivers and commuters joyous celebration, Alhaji Akinsanya appealed to commercial drivers to drive with common sense, use their seat belts and desist from the use of mobile phones while driving
“limit your speed, refrain from overloading and adhere strictly to all the COVID-19 preventive measures”.
