LASG Resumes Classroom, On-site Training For Public Servants

The Lagos State Government has resumed classroom/on-site training of public civil servants after a long break due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking during a recent visit to some of the training venues to encourage and sensitise participants on the need to observe all COVID-19 protocols, the Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Mrs. Ajibola Ponnle, expressed delight that the on-site training has fully resumed towards ensuring that public civil servants are properly trained to improve capacity development and efficiency.

She said, “We have witnessed an impressive increase in capacity development despite the restrictions on physical gathering following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. So it’s a delight for us to have public servants back in the classroom as it will afford us the opportunity to achieve more capacity development”.

The Commissioner stated that the training programmes are geared towards ensuring effective service delivery in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S developmental agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration.

“The present administration of Mr. Governor will continue to provide opportunities for all public servants to access career enhancement courses, training and programmes. Our people will be equipped with whatever it takes to contribute their quota to global development and we will ensure that our development activities are driven by cutting edge knowledge, innovation and technology”, Ponnle stated.

The training exercise, which kicked off on the 2nd of August 2021 with seven sessions across various locations, had different courses on “Effective Performance Management in Public Service”, “Overview of Public Sector Financial Management”, “Forensic Accounting Techniques”, “Effective Coaching Skills for Leaders”, “Strategic Leadership Skills Development” and “Emotional Intelligence” amongst others.

Recall that the Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pensions, has been conducting online training exercises for public civil servants in order to keep them engaged and equipped with modern world best practices.
