The Lagos State Government on Wednesday expressed the commitment of the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu administration to commence the construction of 4th Mainland Bridge before 2023.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Works, Engr. Aramide Adeyoye who disclosed this at the Ministerial Press Briefing to commemorate one year in office of Governor Sanwo-Olu, said the financial closure of the project would be concluded latest next year, and work would commence in earnest.
She said the government had adopted transparent style of regular briefing of residents on the stages, saying at the moment, government was in the process of further pruning down the bidders who have expressed interest.
She said since last year when the present administration reopened bid for the project which had recorded so much back and forth in the last 20 years, three stages have been successfully completed.
“What I can assure residents is that even if we have not completed this project by 2023, at least we would have done considerable level of work on the construction.
We expect that the project will take about three years to be completed and by next year, we must have concluded on the financial closure. We are working to ensure that we get the best for the state,” Adeyoye said.
Already, 10 construction companies have been shortlisted for the project that will connect the island and mainland parts of the state.
The shortlisted companies were drawn from a list of 32 who expressed interest in the construction of the multi-million dollars bridge project.
The companies are CCECC Nigeria Limited; CGGC-CGC Joint Venture; China Harbour Engineering Company Limited; China State Construction Engineering Corporation Nigeria Limited; Power Construction Corporation of China and Mota-Engil and CCCC Consortium.
Other firms are IC ICTAS Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S, Ingenieros Consultores, S.A., through Makais Energy, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc and Mutual Commitment Company Limited.
