LASEMA Helps Curtail NNPC Fire Outbreak In Ogba

The Lagos State Emergency Managrment Agency, LASEMA, in its swift and effective response to emergencies/disasters in the State, curtailed a fire outbreak at NNPC petrol station at Yaya Abatan bus-stop, off College Road, Ogba, on Monday, 27th April, 2020.

Upon the arrival of the LASEMA Response Team, Tiger Squad, led by its Director General/CEO, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, at the incident scene, it was observed that a tanker with 33,000 litres of diesel gutted fire while discharging its content into an underground tank. The Agency’s officials and men of Lagos State Fire Service were able to combat the inferno from spreading to adjoining buildings.

No casualty nor fatality was recorded. However, about 30 vehicles were affected. The combined effort of the emergency responders led to the salvage of properties and buildings nearby.

Emergency responders at the incident scene were Lagos State Fire Services, Federal Fire Service, National Emergency Management Authority, NEMA, Rapid Response Squad, RRS and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

The DG/CEO LASEMA, Dr.Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu implores all Petrol Stations to install at least one fire hydrant in their domain so as to avoid loss of lives and properties as a result of any eventuality of fire outbreak.
