A foreign national who tested positive to the pandemic COVID-19 disease has showed appreciation to the Lagos State Government after his discharge.

He was quarantined at the Lagos Mainland Hospital, an infectious disease facility in Yaba, Lagos, alongside other persons who had also tested positive to the virus.

In a video tweeted by the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, via his verified Twitter handle @ProfAkinAbayomi on Tuesday, the foreigner said being diagnosed with the contagion is not a death sentence.

The man had said, “COVID-19 infection is not death sentence but just a waiting game.”

Lagos currently leads Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases with 82 infections.

And though the nation recorded 12 new infections on Wednesday, for the first time since the index case on February 27, Lagos did not have a case.

So far, Lagos has discharged eight carriers of the virus, with no death recorded in the state so far.

The two COVID-19-related deaths in Nigeria were recorded at the Federal Capital Territory, and the patients were said to have had underlying illnesses such as high blood pressure and melanoma.
