The APC Deputy National Secretary, Chief Victor Giadom emerged as the party Acting National Chairman, to mitigate the crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State. The new Party Acting National Chairman Cheif Giadom immediately void the APC National Working Committee (NWC) recent Edo State Governorship screening exercise that disqualified the incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki from the forth coming Gubernatorial election in Edo State.
Immediately after ascending to the position earlier today Wednessday 17th, June 2020, Chief Giadom annulled the results of the recent Edo State governorship screening exercise that controversially disqualified Governor Godwin Obaseki, leading to his resignation from the party along with his deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu.
Counsel to the All Progressive Congress, APC, Deputy Chairman, Victor Giadom, has stated that his clients Victor Giadom, being the highest-ranking official following Adams Oshiomhole’s suspension, Giadom is the substantial acting chairman according to a High Court in Abuja.
Giadom revoke subsequent to the APC National Working Committee (NWC) annoucement of Deputy National Chairman (South) and former Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, as the interim National Chairman.
This action is followed by the Court of Appeal’s announcement of the suspension of the party’s National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole yesterday Tuesday 16th June 2020.
According to reports, Giadom immediately rejected Ajimobi’s appointment. He said last night via a statement signed by his Counsel, Chief Wole Afolabi:
“Our attention has been drawn to a Statement purportedly issued by the Publicity Secretary of the APC to the effect that Senator Abiola Ajumobi is to act as the National Chairman of APC following the suspension from office of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by the Court of Appeal.
“We wish to state that the statement must have been issued in complete ignorance of the order of the FCT High Court issued on 16th of March, 2020, by Hon. Justice S.U Bature in Suit No. FCT/HC/M/6447/2020 to the effect that Chief Victor Giadom is to act as the National Chairman of the party due to the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as the National Chairman.
“The order was given the same day that the Court of Appeal earlier gave Oshiomhole a temporary respite by staying the execution of the said order suspending Oshiomhole. Now that the Court of Appeal has affirmed the order of suspension, it is only proper that the Order recognizing Chief Victor Giadom is implemented.
“Consequently, we have written to all law-enforcement agencies to implement the said order and any one who attempts to parade himself/herself other than Chief Victor Giadom as the Acting Chairman of the APC would be facing contempt of court proceedings.”
LagosspyNG recalled that the Former Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who was announced by the APC National Working Committee (NWC), as the interim national chairman of the APC is currently reproted to be in Intensive Care Unit and in a state of coma at First Cardiologist Hospital, in Ikoyi Lagos, after he was diagnosed of the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic.
Hence, the affirmation of Oshiomole’s suspension by the Appeal court means that the faction led by Obaseki is the authentic APC leadership. And since the faction did not register Ize Iyamu as the 2020 gubernatorial primary aspirant, then he could not be ascertain to be the party aspirant. Recall that it was Obaseki led faction that suspended Oshiomole,
The recently suspended National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole is projected to be set for Supreme Court to challenge his suspension and the Supreme Court will be the last bus stop of resolution to the current crisis rocking the All Progressive Congress Political party.
