Frustration As Acme Road In Ikeja Get Blocked Again
Lagosians on Monday bitterly lamented the blockade of the popular Acme Road in Ogba housing the Secretariat of the Lagos State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC).
The road was blocked by police on the ground of the need to prevent breakdown of law and order, following dissatisfaction of some APC members over the results of the primary election conducted by the party to decide chairmanship and councillorship candidates for the forthcoming Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas of the state.
A motorist, Ismaila Kazeem said it was appalling for such a major road to be blocked on a Monday morning, thereby subjecting people to harrowing traffic snarl.
According to him, “I don’t understand this. How can you block a major road on a Monday morning when people are rushing to their various places of work?
“You are subjecting us to harrowing traffic snarl. I mean the whole of Ikeja is adversely feeling this blockade,” he said.
Another motorist, Mrs Adebimpe Awoluyi said the traffic had already extended to Wempco Road, Adeniyi Jones, Aromire, Allen Avenue, among others.
“I spent more than two hours on a journey that should have lasted 10 minutes. This is too bad,” she said.
