Former Ondo State Governor Dr. Olusegun Mimiko Decamp to PDP
Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are in Ondo State to receive the National Leader of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, to the party.
Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, led four other governors to the home of the former governor, Mimiko, in Ondo, the headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Other governors were: Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and the Abia State Governor, Ikezie Ikpeasu, who was present to formally welcome the former governor back to the party.
The immediate past Ondo governor had left PDP for ZLP before the 2019 general election.
Mimiko’s return to the party had caused a lot of political rumples in the state for the past three weeks, mainly a threat by a PDP chieftain, Bode Obanla, who said he would challenge his deflection in court.
The four governors and other PDP stalwarts in the state are currently in an indoor meeting with the former governor, as his supporters are awaiting Mimiko to formally declare his return to PDP.
