LagosspyNG gathered that, Mercy Ships is an International Charity Hospital. They help to provide free lifesaving surgeries for people with severe medical condition, where medical care is nearly non-existent.

They currently operates the largest Non-Governmental Hospital ship in the world, providing humanitarian aid like free health care, community development projects, community health education, mental health programs, agriculture projects, and palliative care for terminally ill patients.

#MercyShips puts faith in action — bringing hope and healing. Their floating hospital restores people’s dignity with free surgery and life-changing medical treatment.

The floating hospitals efficiently bring safe, sterile operating rooms and hospital beds directly to people in need so that their volunteer medical staff can provide free surgeries to randomly selected people and restore their hope.

Mercy Ships idea was founded by Don Stephens in 1978, the idea was inspired during the birth of his disabled son hence he use his son disabled condition as motivation and activated vision Mercy Ship then began implementation mission of a floating hospital, so as to provide hope and healing to those in need.

The project was conceived with the thought that, 95 of the 100 largest cities in the world were port cities. Therefore, a floating hospital ship could deliver healthcare very efficiently to large numbers of people in the coastal regions.

According to the Founder, “Each year we send hospital ships filled with volunteer professionals who selflessly provide life-changing surgeries to children and adults who otherwise would go without. Together we are saving lives.” Don Stephens said.

It’s Floating Hospital (Ship) named, “Africa Mercy” Weighs 16,572 tons while the Africa Mercy is the largest non-governmental hospital ship in the world.
