President Muhammadu Buhari, Thursday, requested lawmakers at the lower chamber to approve a loan of $5.5 billion.

In a plenary session monitored by LagosspyNG, Femi Gbajabiamila, the speaker of the House of Representatives, read a letter from Buhari. He said the funds will be used for the federal government’s priority projects and to support the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Buhari, part of the loan will be used to fund the revised 2020 budget, and to support the state governments.
