Arsenal completed the signing of Willian on a three-year deal on Friday after the Brazilian winger’s contract at Chelsea expired.

The Brazilian has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Gunners, believed to be worth around £100,000-a-week.

The number 12 was most recently worn by Stephan Lichtsteiner at Arsenal – who incidentally announced his retirement from football on Thursday – with the defender sporting it for the 2018/19 season.

Before that it was worn by Olivier Giroud, who had it from 2012 to 2017. It has been vacant since Lichtsteiner’s departure, and now belongs to Willian.

Mikel Arteta revealed his delight at getting the transfer for the 32-year-old over the line.

“I believe he’s a player that can really make a difference for us,” said the Arsenal boss.
