Following an investigation that was carried out by the Lagos State Police Command, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, refunded N500,000 cash to a businessman that was reportedly extorted by a team of Policemen.

According to reports, the businessman, whose name is undisclosed, was arrested by the team of Policemen for violating the 10pm curfew order of the Federal Government, and was later threatened by the Policemen to be detained to the next day, and that he would be charged to the court.

However, according to the Policemen, the businessman could evade such punishment, if he paid them the sum of N500,000, which the businessman later accepted to pay.

He was released after he paid the money to them, however he was infuriated by the act of the officers, and thus petitioned the Police command.

CP Odumosu, upon receiving the petition, ordered an investigation into the matter, and while briefing journalists on the outcome of the investigation, he disclosed that the money has been refunded to the businessman and that the officers were arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Yaba, from where they were subjected to Orderly Room Trial.

Odumosu disclosed further that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken against the erring Policemen, and that he would not tolerate such acts under his watch.

When reached, the victim was happy and full of praise for the Lagos State Police Command and the CP, but remained silent on what transpired between him and the Policemen that resulted to the development.
