Principal Suspect of LASU Murdered Student Horlas Arrested – Police
The principal suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo, linked to the alleged killing of a graduate of the Lagos State University, Adedamola Ogunbode, has been arrested by policemen in the Alakuko area of Lagos State.
Recalled that there has been reports on social medial where one Quadri Adedamola Olasunkanmi Ogunbode aka Horlas was declared missing, and his last location was reported to be at one CCC Ileri-Oluwa Parish PPL LASU 2, Okokomaiko Area, in Lagos.
Quadri was declared missing on January 16, 2025. He had obtained his degree from the Political Science Education Department of LASU in 2024 and was running his private business, Horlar Edu Consultancy, on the LASU campus before his disappearance.
Police operatives detailed to investigate the case involving the disappearance of Ogunbode, which was upgraded to a case of suspected murder, had been tracking Ajisomo after the investigation linked him to the clearing of the victim’s bank account.
The suspect, who went into hiding after the crime was perpetrated, was said to have cleared the bank account using the victim’s mobile phone.
The suspected cleric identified as Superintendent Evangelist Whepetoji Babaniyeh, had been arrested in connection with Quadri’s disappearance. The cleric leads the Celestial Church of Christ, Ileri Oluwa Parish, Lagos State University (LASU) 2.
Today Tuesday 11th March 2025, Investigative journalist Deji Lambo reached out to the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development during a request for an update regarding the ongoing investigation.
He said, “Yes, it is true. He (Olaoluwa Ajisomo) was arrested yesterday (Monday). He is the principal suspect in the case of the suspected murder of the missing LASU graduate. He cleared the victim’s bank account.”
Meanwhile, Hundeyin, while addressing journalists at the police command headquarters on Monday, said a church had been sealed over the alleged killing of Ogunbode to prevent it from being attacked and set on fire by yet-to-be-identified persons in the state.
“The church was sealed following intelligence reports that some people planned to burn it down out of vengeance, and we don’t want that to happen.
“It is still a suspected crime scene. We still need to go over it, and we may need to revisit the scene multiple times to gather evidence,” he said.
Hundeyin also noted that investigation into the case was ongoing, adding that further updates would be communicated.
Following Ajisomo’s arrest, the total number of arrested suspects linked to the missing graduate’s case is now four.
The National Association of Ogun State Students, NAOSS, and the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Stakeholders in the state have called on the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to intervene and order a special investigation into the alleged kidnapping and possible murder of a Lagos State University graduate, Quadri Ogunbode.
Meanwhile, the father of the deceased, a lawyer and human rights activist Bankole Alani, visited the crime scene, a Celestial church in the early hours of Monday for further inspection. It was revealed that nothing suspicious was found to confirm whether the boy was buried in the church compound or not.
