Married Man Defiles Neighbor’s 14-Year-Old; Police Aiding and Abetting Justice
Lagos policemen falsified the 14-year-old defiled victim’s test result, freed the suspect, and detained and prosecuted the complainant’s family members against the CP’s directive.
The sister of a 14-year-old girl, identified simply as Hannah, is seeking justice after her married co-tenant, identified simply as Samuel, allegedly had carnal knowledge of the minor inside his matrimonial home in the Ogombo area of Ajah, Lagos State.
In an interview with investigative journalist DEJI LAMBO, according to the sister, the suspect allegedly had carnal knowledge of the minor on two separate occasions.
The case was reported to the Ogombo Division of the state police command, but the arrested suspect, who had boasted that he would use N150,000 to cover the case, was released.
The Divisional Police Officer of the Ogombo Division, Lagos State Police Command, CSP Fatai Amori, alongside some policemen identified simply as Ireti Mavis and Ada Mercy, aka Supol Abiola, among others, has been accused of falsifying the test result conducted on a 14-year-old girl, who alleged that her sister’s co-tenant, Mr. Samuel, defiled her at their residence in the Ogombo area of the state.
According to findings by DEJI LAMBO, the minor, who had been perplexed by the alleged crime perpetrated by Samuel and the constant threat to silence her from revealing the illicit act, summoned courage and opened up to her family members on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
During an interview with the victim’s sister, Hannah, she said Mr. Samuel denied the allegation when confronted, adding that to ascertain the veracity of the minor’s claim, the victim, alongside her family members and Mr. Samuel, visited the Mother and Child Hospital on Abraham Adesanya, along the Lekki-Epe Expressway area of the state.
She said, “After the doctors at the hospital conducted a test on my sister, they contacted the policemen at the Ogombo Division to arrest Mr. Samuel.
“Before his arrest, Mr. Samuel had boasted that he would use N150,000 to close the case if it got to the police.
“When we got to the station, policewomen Ireti Mavis and Ada Mercy, aka Supol Abiola, attached to the Human Rights Unit at the Ogombo Division, gave us a letter directing us to the Women at Risk International Foundation (WARIF) for another test on Friday, February 21.
“After the test at WARIF, my 14-year-old sister was subjected to counseling and was also given drugs to use. The officials at WARIF didn’t give us the result but said it would be sent to the Ogombo Division.”
Hannah said her family members were waiting for the result when they suddenly realized that the suspect, who had been in detention, was released on Wednesday, February 26, a week after his arrest.
Enraged by the development, Hannah said she and her brother, Mendy, visited the station to ascertain why the suspect was released and the outcome of the test conducted at WARIF.
She said, “We were told to provide my sister, and we called our aunt, Edozie, to bring her to the station. When they got to the station, the policemen said my sister was still a virgin and had not been defiled.
“My sister kept saying she was defiled, and what the policemen did was take the 14-year-old girl to a corner where she threatened to put her in a cell if she kept lying that Mr. Samuel defiled her.
“The policemen at the station also said the result of the test that WARIF sent revealed that she’s still a virgin. They showed us the result, and without giving us a chance to question it, they detained me, my brother, aunt, and someone else took the victim home.”
Hannah said her aunt was released on Friday after paying N65,000, adding that because she and her brother refused to pay the N150,000 demanded for bail, they were detained for five days.
After getting wind of the victim and her family members’ predicaments, DEJI LAMBO intervened, engaged Edozie, and subsequently directed her to take action.
