Atiku To Lead PDP Governors, Others To Visit Wike in Reconciliatory Move
The Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees has set up a reconciliatory committee to meet with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State over the fallout of the party’s presidential primary and crisis trailing the nomination of a running mate.
This committee is to be led by presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar with 13 other governors as members.
Wike, who lost the party’s presidential ticket to Atiku, is reportedly unhappy with the candidate’s decision to choose Delta governor Ifeanyin Okowa as his running mate.
Chairman of the party’s BOT, Senator Walid Jibrin, made the announcement in a statement on Sunday, saying the visit to Governor Wike would take place immediately after Atiku and the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, return to the country from their vacation abroad.
The committee is said to also include the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the National Working Committee (NWC), Jibrin, 13 PDP governors, former governors, former ministers and some party elders from the states.
Senator Jibrin described Governor Wike as a very responsible and obedient member of party who has helped in many ways.
