Court Orders Police to Suspend Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement
The Federal High Court sitting in Warri has issued an order directing the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector General of Police to maintain the status quo in the ongoing case concerning the controversial tinted glass permit.
Nigeria prominent Human rights activist lawyer Inibehe Effiong Esq., disclosed this on his official Facebook page where he cited that the case, Suit No. FHC/WR/CS/103/2025: John Aikpokpo-Martins v. Inspector General of Police & Nigeria Police Force, came up for hearing today Friday 3rd October, 2025.
Delivering the interim order, the Court directed the police authorities to respect judicial processes pending further proceedings in the matter.
Confirming the development, Kunle Edun, SAN, who led the legal team, noted that the directive is a major step in ensuring that the rule of law is upheld while the substantive issues in the case are being determined.

Recalled that the Police Spokesman CSP Benjamin Hundeyin stated on his official Facebook page, where he debunks viral statements on social media highlighting the legal jurisdiction and court case pending on the tinted glass permit enforcement as being lawful and legal within the jurisdiction of the police act.
Where he reiterated that enforcement of the Motor Vehicle Tinted Glass law commences as planned on Thursday, 2 October 2025 and the Nigeria Police Officers assumed the nationwide enforcement of the tint permits on motorist yet to register their vehicle for the permit.
