DSS Invites NURTW ‘Sego’ for Alleged Election Threats Statement

The Department of State Service (DSS) has invited for questioning the Lagos State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Sego, who was seen in a viral video on social media, declaring war on anyone planning to vote the All Progressives Congress (APC) out of power in the 2027 elections.

The statement sparked widespread public outcry, with concerned citizens calling for government action to curb the alleged electoral violence and intimidation statement from the Lagos NURTW Chairman, Sego.

Sego, cited in the viral video, vows to “severely punish” any resident who dares to vote against the APC, insisting that he has the full backing of the government. He further boasted that what happened in the 2023 presidential election, when APC lost Lagos, would never be allowed to repeat itself.

The video has drawn widespread condemnation, with Lagos residents accusing Sego of attempting to intimidate over 20 million citizens, while residents call for his immediate arrest, stressing that democracy cannot be reduced to threats and intimidation by union leaders hiding under political protection.

The alleged threats statement from the NURTW chieftain caught on camera mounts pressure on security agencies to act swiftly, as the Department of State Service (DSS) invited Sego for questioning on Thursday, 2nd October 2025.

NURTW Chairman Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle Sego, after the questioning, acknowledged that he was released on bail from the DSS facility, where he debunked the alleged statement as being misinterpreted misinformation, and credited it to fake bloggers and factions in the NURTW misinforming the public to bring down his office as Chairman of the Lagos NURTW chapter.

The statement obtained by Lagosspy NG correspondents was documented in a video after his release from the DSS facility, where Sego reacted and debunked the allegations of electoral threats in Lagos.

“Earlier today, I, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle Sego, was invited for questioning by the Department of State Service (DSS). This follows attempts by certain paid bloggers and those who oppose the progressive movement within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Lagos State chapter to destabilize the Union.”

Sego reiterated that during the questioning, he made it clear to the DSS officials that factions exist within the state union, with some acting as obstacles to the state’s progress. He emphasized that during the last state Executive meeting, all members were assured of their right to belong to any faction without facing threats.

He reaffirmed that he remains committed to being a peace ambassador and sees no reason to deviate from the NURTW motto of Peace, Discipline, and Justice.

“Under my leadership, freedom of expression is embraced, which will only help me grow wiser and stronger as the chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Lagos State Chapter. I understand the frustration of those who are spreading misinformation. They are upset that the Union couldn’t achieve what I have in such a short time.”

Alhaji Sego added that in the coming days, those who do not support the Union’s progressive movement may spread propaganda about him and the Union. “I, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle Adio (Sego), will always remain an ambassador of peace, love, and discipline,” he concluded.
