EFCC Convicts Mother, Son Who Spent N5.6m On Sports Betting For False Information
The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has secured the conviction of one Oluwayemisi Samuel and her Son, Joshua Samuel, before Justice A.A Bello of the Kaduna State High Court for false information.
The agency made this known in a statement shared via its website on Wednesday.
According to the statement, Oluwayemisi and her son spent N5.6M on sports betting and caused a false petition to be submitted to the agency, alleging that the money was fraudulently withdrawn from their account and transferred to a sports betting account without their knowledge.
The separate counts read, “That you, Oluwayemisi Samuel (F) and Hezekiah Samuel (now at large) sometime in March, 2023 in Kaduna State within the jurisdiction of the Honourable Court, committed an offence to wit; wilfully gave false information to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, which information was used to carry out investigation on your complaint to the Commission, which information you knew to false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 16(1) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2004 and punishable under Section 16(2) of the same Act.

We create stunning, professional, and fully mobile-responsive websites that help businesses build trust and attract more customers online. Our website packages start from $700 and can go up to $3,000 depending on the design, customizations, features, and technology required.
Template-based websites are usually more affordable because the design structure is already created, reducing development time. If you need a completely custom design built specifically for your brand, the cost is generally higher due to the additional design and development work involved.
If you’d like, I can also share some sample websites we have created. Feel free to tell us a little about your requirements, preferred design style, and any features you need, and we’ll be happy to provide recommendations and a customized quote.

Unlike the HUD-1, which closing agents generally provided to buyers and sellers on the day of a real estate closing, closing statements must be issued at least three business days before closing. This deadline allows all parties to review the form and ensure the information it contains is accurate. Not just the sums involved and agreed-upon, but also who pays what. A closing can be intimidating, but we find that educating the client on what to expect and how the process will unfold helps make the entire procedure much more manageable. With that in mind, here is a look into the process that we follow for residential real estate closings. The tax collection agency’s website for your jurisdiction should reflect your ownership within the next six months. If you do not see your ownership reflected within this time frame, we recommend that you make a request with your jurisdiction’s online tax payer service center. A full list of contacts can be found in our Real Property Tax Assessment Guide.

In some estates, the decedent made lifetime gifts that reduced the decedent’s gross estate at death to less than $1,000,000. However, a Massachusetts estate tax return is required if the gross estate at death plus adjusted taxable lifetime gifts, computed using the Internal Revenue Code in effect on December 31, 2000, exceeds $1,000,000. Example 3 illustrates the tax computation for an estate in which the gross estate at death is less than $1,000,000, but the sum of the gross estate at death and the adjusted taxable lifetime gifts exceeds $1,000,000. The ultimate key is to take your time, do the necessary research, and weigh up your options carefully. Real estate investment isn’t something that anyone should simply be diving into headfirst. It requires patience, planning, and care, but with the right approach, the sky’s the limit for real estate investors looking to cut down on their taxes, as we can see from the many benefits listed above.
